For regulation, consumer law, data protection and official processes we prefer primary sources such as the Financial Conduct Authority, Competition and Markets Authority, Information Commissioner's Office, GOV.UK and legislation.

Commercial research is labelled

Funeral cost figures may come from reputable industry research. We name the source and date because methodologies differ.

Commercial relationships do not buy editorial conclusions

If a commercial partner appears on the site, paid placement or referral relationships will be identified. We do not allow payment to rewrite a factual regulatory conclusion.
